Job Summary
Conduct biological laboratory bench work by setting up, operating, and maintaining instruments while isolating, dissecting, and preparing human specimens for quality assessment. Perform molecular biology experiments, record operational data, and assist in banking brain and spinal cord tissue for researcher shipment. Utilize robotics and high-throughput equipment to analyze specimens and enter detailed medical histories into databases. Participate in rotating on-call duties covering nights, weekends, and holidays to receive and preserve incoming specimens. Submit prepared specimens to requesting researchers and support research and development processes. Submit resumes as PDF files containing your name.
Required Qualifications
- Biological laboratory bench work
- Knowledge of medical terminology
- Superior command of writing, proofreading, and communicating in the English language
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, etc.
- Ability to apply concepts of business mathematics and statistical analysis
- Ability to deal with problems involving multiple variables in non-standard situations
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
- Close vision
- Color vision
- Ability to adjust focus
- Rotating on-call responsibilities as needed, including nights, weekends, and holidays
- Participate in on-call rotating schedule duty without schedule restrictions
- This includes evenings, weekends and after-hours receiving and preservation of incoming brain/spinal cord tissue and fluid specimens
- Biological laboratory bench work
- Knowledge of medical terminology is desirable
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree
- Courses in Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or related Biological Science area
- Medical terminology
- Personal computer operations
- Working experience in a research laboratory
