Job Summary

Develop the entire soccer program by providing leadership to personnel and student athletes while adhering to LHSAA, district, and JPPSS rules. Prepare teams for competition after the school day, manage equipment inventory, and schedule games and activities. Maintain all required records, ensure student physicals and insurance coverage, and compile data for reports. Supervise assistant coaches, evaluate their performance, and communicate with the athletic director, media, and parents. Report rosters, scores, and incidents promptly, and coordinate transportation for road trips. Represent the school at various functions and participate in professional development to earn thirty-six Continuing Learning Units annually.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Louisiana Teaching Certificate
  • CECP completion
  • current LHSAA requirements
  • CDL class B or above with a P and S endorsement free of air brake restrictions
  • requirements of the Louisiana Department of Education school bus driver component
  • Employment with the Jefferson Parish Public School System as a teacher and/or administrator
  • requirements in Article 3.3 (Faculty Coaches) of the LHSAA handbook
  • demonstrated expertise, knowledge and competency in basic soccer fundamentals
  • Professional knowledge of LHSAA and JPPSS rules and regulations for soccer
  • Expertise, knowledge and competency in conditioning of athletes sport specific
  • ability to communicate in Standard English, both orally and in writing and or digitally
  • ability to accurately give and receive information via telecommunication system
  • ability to communicate successfully and tactfully with students, parents and school personnel while following JPPSS policies
  • ability to accurately communicate with members of the media
  • ability to represent the school and or school system at various functions
  • ability to accurately compile and access data, summarize information and provide written reports to his/her supervisor
  • ability to adhere to all LHSAA assigned district, Jefferson Parish Public School System (JPPSS) and the Louisiana High School Athletic Association (LHSAA) rules and regulations relative to the soccer program
  • ability to maintain security of electronic and print records with regard to confidentiality of student information and passwords that are issued for access to databases
  • ability to work weekends and holidays as determined by the preparedness of his/her team
  • Standing, running, walking, reaching, bending and lifting
  • ability to demonstrate athletic techniques and physically transfer or position athletes as required
  • ability to move heavy athletic equipment
  • Ability to provide own transportation to games, work locations and meeting sites
  • Ability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions

Desired Qualifications

  • Previous playing experience in soccer preferred (on college or university level; minimum experience on high school level)
  • Previous coaching experience on the junior varsity, junior high/middle school or other recreation activity level in soccer
  • Expertise, knowledge and competency in first aid for the prevention and treatment of soccer injuries
