Job Summary
Coach all scheduled games and lead every practice session, establishing fundamental skills and techniques while promoting teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Train staff on program philosophy through meetings and clinics, delegate duties, and analyze staff effectiveness at season's end. Enforce student eligibility, apply injury prevention procedures, and monitor discipline during contests. Collaborate with administration, cheerleaders, and feeder schools to enhance program interest and ensure adherence to district and state association rules. Maintain equipment inventory and meet annual performance goals while supporting the Xavier Catholic Schools athletic program.
Required Qualifications
- Valid coaching license through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners or the ability to obtain it prior to the start of the season
- Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures
- Demonstrated ability to effectively lead, instruct, and supervise students athletes and a coaching staff
- Ability to work under pressure and remain calm
- Proficient in organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Significant lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, reaching, driving, standing and walking
- Exposure to communicable diseases
- Maintain emotional control under stress
- Background Clearance
