Box Truck Driver | Food Bank Warehouse Worker

Job Summary

Operate box trucks and vans safely, performing daily safety and maintenance checks while maintaining proper fluid levels. Load and unload trucks with a forklift, weigh and record food donations, and ensure correct rotation of supplies. Pick up food donations from stores, interact with representatives, and assist with distribution to clients through box preparation and Hope Harbor support. Clean vehicles as scheduled, store them securely, and maintain the Lodi Corps facility appearance. Report security concerns, handle crisis situations, and complete required training and background checks. Work with little oversight, manage diverse clients and volunteers, and adhere to all DOT, DMV, and OSHA regulations.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid California Class C Driver License
  • Ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check to include a DOJ Livescan Fingerprint check
  • Ability to give written and verbal instructions in English
  • Ability to use computer for daily & weekly reporting of donations received
  • Ability to communicate through emails
  • Ability to operate a box truck
  • Ability to operate a forklift
  • Ability to work successfully with the challenging behaviors of pre-programmers in our care
  • Ability to work with and serve a wide range of clients, volunteers, and beneficiaries

  • Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, manage stairs, and twist on an intermittent or continuous basis
  • Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, clothing carts, merchandise carts, rolling clothing racks, fixtures, furniture dollies, platform trucks and carts, hand trucks and miscellaneous carts
  • Uninhibited physical mobility in bending and lifting up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to exert up to 100 lbs. of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
  • Ability to operate a wireless phone or radio
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to perform various repetitive motion tasks
  • Ability to verbally interact with staff, clients, volunteers, donors, and children
  • Must pass The Salvation Army background checks
  • Must attend TSA Program and Child Safety Training
  • Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License, and ability to drive a Salvation Army vehicle
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Obtain a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) from the CA DMV and present upon interview
  • Authorize The Salvation Army to add name to the CA DMV Pull Notice Program
  • Complete The Salvation Army vehicle course training

Desired Qualifications

  • Forklift driving experience or certification
  • At least one year of warehouse experience
  • Knowledge of Salvation Army policies and procedures helpful
