Job Summary
Run bottoming operations around the welt, including beating and leveling the welt after inseaming, setting the shank, laying filler, building the cork bed, cementing and pressing the outsole, and operating the outsole stitcher. Beat and level the welt after inseaming, set the shank, lay the filler, and build the cork bed to specification. Cement, position, and press the outsole while holding alignment to the welt line and mate. Operate the outsole stitcher where the style calls for a stitched outsole. Inspect for sole alignment, gaps at the waist, and adhesion at the toe and heel. Cross-train toward inseaming and the Goodyear stitcher as capability allows. This position works on the production floor with standing requirements and occasional lifting up to 40 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Mechanical aptitude
- Willingness to work with presses, adhesives and heated equipment
- Willingness to cross-train into inseaming
- Standing for the full shift on a concrete floor
- Occasional lifting up to 40 pounds
- Frequent lifting up to 20 pounds
- Hearing protection
- Eye protection
- Steel-toe footwear
- Respirator fit-testing
- Chemical-handling training
