Job Summary
Booking Officer at IWK Health is responsible for ensuring complete and accurate booking procedures for elective and urgent surgical patients in a clinical environment. Duties include patient scheduling, maintaining confidential documentation, producing Excel spreadsheets and reports, and coordinating with surgeon offices, anesthesia, preadmission clinics and leadership staff to optimize Operating Room/Endoscopy time. The role also provides administrative support for the PARNS Access Manager and the Operating Room Manager. Key skills include central booking, scheduling, medical terminology, report preparation, and proficiency with Excel and Word; familiarity with OPOR-CIS, Novari ATC, and PARNS is preferred.
Required Qualifications
- Grade XII
- Graduate of a business, office information technology, medical office assistant, secretarial course or equivalent combination of education and related experience required
- A minimum of one (1) year of related experience in Central Booking processes (including scheduling procedures, physicians, and patients, as well as managing waitlists)
- Medical terminology course or equivalent required
- Demonstrated experience in report preparation
- Experience with OPOR-CIS, Novari ATC and PARNS preferred
- Advanced working knowledge and proficiency with Excel and Microsoft Word
- Ability to organize and prioritize duties
- Annually access the training and education on patient, client and personal safety made available by IWK
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
