Bond Construction Project Manager - Facilities Planning

Job Summary
Bond Construction Project Manager coordinates all technical and administrative activities between the Facilities Planning department and design professionals, consultants, agents, vendors, contractors, school communities and district staff in the implementation of all JISD new construction and capital improvement bond projects. Serves as project coordinator/liaison with contracted architectural, engineering and management professionals; interfaces with district and school administration to ensure alignment with district goals; consults with city, county, state and federal officials to ensure conformity with codes and ordinances; reviews and approves proposals, change orders, and payments; coordinates bids, progress inspections, occupancy planning, warranty work, and post-project reporting; develops standardized reports and maintains documentation of project status, expenditures, and justifications for overruns; requires prolonged periods of travel throughout the year and ability to work extended hours. Qualifications emphasize a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent five years of experience), valid TX driver’s license, background check, and deep knowledge of building systems, codes, and construction management practices; strong leadership, communication, and interdisciplinary coordination skills are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering, science or construction management
- five (5) years of experience in building construction, construction management or related field
- Valid Texas Driver’s License with a good driving record; must meet and maintain liability coverage eligibility
- Fingerprint background check (non-refundable fee paid by employee)
- Knowledge of architectural, engineering and construction principles, practices and procedures and applicable federal, state and local building and zoning codes
- Experience with institutional mechanical, electrical, electronic, plumbing and other building systems
- Ability to write concise and comprehensive reports; strong communication and leadership skills
