Job Summary
Operate the roof bolter to install roof bolts and secure the mine's roof, ensuring safe ground conditions for workers. Learn to operate scaling equipment and inspect areas after bolting to hand scale as necessary. Perform equipment safety checks, write work orders, fill out production reports, and maintain regular inventory of bolting supplies. Communicate problem areas to management and co-workers while conducting light maintenance on equipment. Work in underground and outdoor mine environments involving rough terrain, low light, and temperature extremes. Regular attendance is required with overtime possible.
Required Qualifications
- Must possess basic ability to read and write
- Must be competent to evaluate ground safety conditions
- Must be able to operate roof bolter
- Must be capable of and competent to operate heavy equipment
- Must be able to walk over rough terrain, stoop, reach, climb, kneel, and carry up to 60 pounds
- Must be able to work in underground mine involving low light, diesel emissions, dust, noise, and humidity
- Must be able to work outdoors involving temperature extremes, dust, noise, and humidity
- Regular attendance is required
- Overtime may be required as determined by management
