Job Summary
Construct, assemble, maintain, and repair all types of boilers, auxiliary systems, and structural steel frameworks in accordance with plans, specifications, and industry standards. Install manholes, valves, gauges, and refractory materials within pressure vessels while aligning and securing structural assemblies. Inspect subordinate work for accuracy and compliance, explain deficiencies, and take corrective action. Continually share knowledge, eliminate waste, and seek improvements in tasks and methods while maintaining positive crew relationships. Produce high-quality work safely and productively, lifting up to 50 pounds and complying with all safety standards. Work up to 12-hour shifts in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
Required Qualifications
- Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work
- Must have a minimum of three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level Ill) and six plus years (level Sr.) experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the ironworker trade
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
- Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
- Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
- Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas
- Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
- Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds
- Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50Ibs. on an occasional basis
- Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions
- Must be able to lift and carry heavy items up to 50 pounds
