Job Summary
Construct, assemble, maintain, and repair stationary steam boilers and boiler house auxiliaries. Align structures or plate sections to assemble boiler frame tanks or vats, following blueprints. Work involves use of hand and power tools, plumb bobs, levels, wedges, dogs, or turnbuckles. Assist in testing assembled vessels. Engages in the direct cleaning of boilers and boiler furnaces. Inspect and repair boiler fittings, such as safety valves, regulators, automatic-control mechanisms, water columns, and auxiliary machines. Examine boilers, pressure vessels, tanks, or vats to locate defects, bolt or arc welds, inspect vessels/components for defects, repair/replace defective parts, attach rigging to lift heavy components, weld tube ends, lay out metal, install manholes and connections, study blueprints for locations, straighten or reshape plates, position and secure assemblies, locate reference points on foundations, shape/fabricate parts to fit, and install refractory bricks in fireboxes. Roles include on-site fabrication, testing, and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of Journeyman level experience.
