Boiler Service Technician

Job Summary

Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and inspections on boilers, hydronic systems, cooling towers, and pumps to ensure peak equipment performance. Execute electrical and mechanical inspections, clean equipment, and interpret engineering drawings for system layout and operation. Advise owners on corrective actions, suggest beneficial additional services, and submit daily paperwork to the Service Coordinator. Represent the company positively with trades, contractors, and customers while maintaining safety standards in diverse field conditions. Work in a team-based environment to share workload and ensure customer satisfaction, with flexibility for overtime and weekends as required.

Required Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Must have valid driver's license with good driving record
  • Must have current Boiler certification
  • Must have OSHA 10 Training
  • Must have 1-5 years' experience working as a Service Technician in a commercial environment
  • Operating knowledge of Microsoft office software
  • Working proficiency with hand held computer (i.e. Smartphone, iPad)
  • Electrical knowledge
  • EPA Certification (i.e. HVAC Journeyman, Boiler Operator, Gas Installer, etc.)
  • 2-3 years boiler maintenance and repair experience preferred
  • Ability to climb
  • Ability to crawl
  • Ability to stoop
  • Ability to kneel
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret graphs
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations

Desired Qualifications

  • Must be able to climb, crawl, stoop, kneel and must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to work in diverse conditions including but not limited to mechanical equipment rooms with exposure to noisy operating equipment, exposure to extreme weather conditions, risk of electrical shock (high voltage), climbing/working at elevated heights, etc.
  • Ability to work in a field environment, multiple customer sites on a daily basis
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, and sit
  • Ability to use hands to operate computer keyboard reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Customer service oriented
  • Work well with others
  • High level of correspondence with Project Managers, Service Coordinators and customers
  • Flexibility to work overtime/ weekends, as required
