Job Summary
Boiler Operator / Stationary Engineer needed to support federal/military operations at a Naval Station in Newport, RI. Responsible for installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of boilers and domestic heating systems, ranging from hot water tanks to complex heating equipment. Performs tests and inspections of thermostats, burners, fuel cut-off devices, relays, and safety controls; replaces defective burners and components; cleans filters and ignition electrodes; selects appropriate materials and tools; works under safety protocols with PPE; interacts with federal staff and service members; role includes shift rotation and collaboration with a team.
Required Qualifications
- Possession of a valid Real ID as required by federal regulations
- Valid state Driver’s license
- Valid operator's license
- OSHA 10 certification prior to starting
- Working knowledge of combustion, heat transfer, fuel characteristics, and boiler/heating system controls
- Thorough knowledge of mechanical, electromechanical, pneumatic principles and related controls
- Ability to install, align, adjust, balance and test system components and equipment
- Ability to pass a drug test and thorough background check for access to a military installation
- Commitment to safety and proper use of PPE
