Job Summary
Boiler Operator / Stationary Engineer responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heating and boiler systems at a Naval Station in Newport, RI. The role requires inspecting and testing burners, valves, regulators, and safety devices; replacing defective components; cleaning and servicing equipment; selecting appropriate materials and tools; and adhering to safety standards with PPE. Shift-based pay ($40–$44/hr) with a rotation schedule, benefits including paid holidays and health insurance, and interaction with federal personnel. Must meet Real ID and licensing requirements, OSHA 10, and pass drug/background checks for access to a military installation.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Real ID per federal regulations
- Valid state driver’s license
- Valid operator's license
- OSHA 10 certification prior to starting
- Working knowledge of combustion, heat transfer, fuel characteristics, and boiler/heating equipment controls
- Thorough knowledge of manual, electric, electronic, pneumatic, and mechanical boiler and heating system controls
- Ability to install, align, adjust, balance and test system components
- Ability to pass drug test and background check for access to a military installation
- Ability to work on government property and interact with federal employees and service members
- Experience in installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of boilers and related equipment
