Job Summary
Fire boilers and related equipment using test equipment, meters, and mechanical abilities to ensure proper operation during installation. Perform independent start-ups, interpret written or diagrammatic instructions, and conduct field service calls for troubleshooting and repairs. Execute basic electrical and mechanical fixes on boiler and auxiliary systems while communicating with customers to diagnose problems and provide training. Complete field service reports documenting work performed and hours worked. Utilize combustion analyzers, multimeters, and hand/power tools to address issues. May require overnight travel and overtime.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- At least four years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical testing equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and other shop & service employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute ratio and percent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google App programs
- Ability to use a tablet and/or smartphone
- Ability to stand
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to walk, sit, climb, or balance
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to talk or hear
- Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Close vision
