Job Summary
Fire boilers and related equipment using test equipment, meters, and mechanical abilities to ensure proper operation during installation and start-up. Interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions to perform independent start-ups and assist the Service team with field service calls, troubleshooting, and other activities. Conduct basic electrical and mechanical repairs on boiler and auxiliary equipment while communicating with customers to determine problems, provide training, and explain services. Complete field service reports documenting work performed, problem nature, and hours worked. Utilize hand and power tools, combustion analyzers, and multimeters to address issues and maintain customer relations. Perform duties requiring standing, using hands, and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds while exposed to fumes, extreme heat, and loud noise.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- At least four years related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems in industrial steam and power plant operations
- Familiarity with electrical and mechanical testing equipment
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers, vendors, contractors, sales personnel, and other shop & service employees
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
- Ability to compute ratio and percent
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google App programs
- Use of a tablet and/or smartphone
- Ability to stand
- Ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
- Ability to reach with hands and arms
- Ability to walk
- Ability to sit
- Ability to climb or balance
- Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to talk or hear
