Job Summary
Conduct meticulous vehicle assessments and quality repairs to restore pre-accident conditions, utilizing tools like cutting guns, plasma cutters, and hydraulic jacks to disassemble, reassemble, and align chassis and frames. Hammers out dents, mix filler resins, replace damaged sections with new or aftermarket parts, repair glass and interiors, weld parts, and prepare vehicles for factory-specified paint. Plan repair work, prepare cost estimates, and inspect vehicles after completion to ensure correct execution within labor time guidelines. Perform other related duties as assigned while maintaining safety standards in noisy areas with odors.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of technical school program OR a 3-year apprenticeship as an auto body repairer
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade
- Ability to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds at times
- Ability to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions
- Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections
