Body Technician

Job Summary
Analyze damage, review repair orders, and plan procedures to restore structural integrity, body panels, and finish to pre-accident condition. Repair or replace damaged components using welding, sectioning, and bonding techniques, while performing structural straightening with frame machines and measuring systems. Remove dents and imperfections through metal finishing, filling, and sanding, then prepare surfaces for refinishing via grinding, priming, and block sanding. Weld, cut, and fabricate panels as required, ensuring all work meets OEM specifications and shop quality standards before delivery. Identify supplemental damage and communicate additional needs to the estimator while maintaining tools, equipment, and a safe work environment.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of hands-on collision/body repair experience
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand for extended periods
- Ability to perform physically demanding work
- Detail-oriented
- Quality-focused
- Able to meet production deadlines
Desired Qualifications
- Technical or vocational training in collision repair
- I-CAR and/or ASE certification
- Willingness to obtain I-CAR and/or ASE certification
- Proficiency with frame machines, measuring systems, welders, and body shop tools and equipment
- Knowledge of OEM repair procedures, structural repair, and modern vehicle materials (steel, aluminum, composites)
- Ability to read and interpret repair orders, estimates, and technical specifications
