Job Summary
Repair damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership specifications and time standards. Repairs vehicles per estimate and according to manufacturer standards, checks parts against estimates, and prepares vehicles for body repair work. Notify management of additional repairs needed or difficulties preventing quality performance. Maintain tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment, including respirators, while complying with hazardous materials regulations and OSHA standards. Cooperate with other personnel and operate all tools safely. Obtain I-CAR Advanced Vehicle Systems and Collision Repair certifications, plus a valid driver's license. Work Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, earning $17.00 per hour with paid training and full benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Two to four years related experience and/or training
- I-CAR Certificate of Advanced Training
- Advanced Vehicle Systems
- Aluminum Repair, Replacement and Welding
- Collision Repair 2000 or new equivalents
- Electronics for Collision Repair
- Understanding Collision Repair
- Workplace Hazardous Materials
- Plastic Repair
- Valid Driver's License
- Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certifications
- Non-Structural Analysis and Damage Repair Certification for Collision Repair
- Structural Analysis and Damage Repair Certification for Collision Repair
- State of Michigan Unitized Body Structural Repair Certification
- State of Michigan Collision Related Mechanical Repair Certification
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
- Must be working at obtaining all the following in the timetable set by management
- Must regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
- Must occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds
- Must have close vision
- Must have distance vision
- Must have color vision
- Must have peripheral vision
- Must have depth perception
- Must have the ability to adjust focus
- Must be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals
- Must be frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, and explosives
- Must be occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock
- Must be able to climb or balance
- Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Must be able to maintain and wear all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer
- Must comply with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials
- Must comply with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know
