Estimate cost of repairing damaged tractor and trailer damage based on visual inspection of vehicle, dents, scratches, broken glass, and other areas requiring repair, replacement, or repainting. Examine interior for evidence of fire or water damage to upholstery and appointments. Determine feasibility of repair or replacement of parts such as bumpers, fenders, and doors using standard labor and parts cost manuals. Compute costs for mechanical, electrical, or other repairs where shop performs both body work and mechanical servicing. Enter itemized estimate on job order card or estimate form and explain estimate to customer. Estimate cost of repainting, converting vehicles to special purposes, or customizing undamaged vehicles depending on specialty of shop. Direct collision repair tech when clarification is needed during the repair process. Pick up or deliver vehicles as needed, including CDL trucks or trailers.
