Job Summary
Greet clients, inspect vehicle damage, and collect information to prepare accurate collision repair estimates using industry software like CCC ONE or Mitchell. Document damage with photographs and written notes, then write repair orders detailing the repair plan and secure client signatures. Communicate and negotiate with insurance adjusters regarding estimates and total loss evaluations, while explaining costs, timelines, and coverage options to clients. Coordinate parts ordering, track special order status, and follow up on repair progress by contacting clients regularly to update them on changes. Inspect quality of vehicles post-repair to verify authorized work, notify clients when repairs are complete, and assist in scheduling vehicles to manage shop workload. Maintain dealership standards for customer satisfaction ratings and cycle time performance.
Required Qualifications
- Current, valid driver's license
- Satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Must be able to lift up to 10 pounds independently
- Majority of lifting from knee to shoulder heights
- Other lifting required from various levels
- Ability to stand for extended period
- Frequent stretching, reaching, walking and stooping
- Pushing and/or pulling in an environment that may be cold, hot, noisy, and wet
- Fumes or odors due to vehicle maintenance
- Exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and paint odors
- Occasional travel between dealership locations
- Use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers
- Use of estimating software and photography equipment
- Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles
- Excellent visual acuity
- Manual dexterity
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience as a collision estimator
- Prior experience as a service writer/advisor
- Prior experience in body shop operations
- Working knowledge of estimating software (CCC ONE, Mitchell, or Audatex)
- Working knowledge of insurance/DRP processes
- Customer service-oriented and friendly demeanor
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Strong negotiation skills
- Ability to multitask
- Manage several clients and repair orders at once
- Positive attitude
- Willingness to work as a team
