Job Summary
Assess and estimate the cost of repairs for damaged vehicles by conducting thorough inspections to identify necessary repairs and replacements. Prepare detailed, itemized estimates including parts, labor, and materials while utilizing industry-standard software to document progress. Collaborate with insurance adjusters, customers, and repair technicians to discuss options, obtain approvals, and answer inquiries. Maintain strong relationships with insurance providers, suppliers, and vendors to ensure timely part delivery. Assist with administrative tasks such as maintaining records, preparing reports, and processing billing information. Stay updated with industry trends, repair techniques, and manufacturer specifications to provide accurate recommendations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Proven experience as a Collision Estimator or in a similar role within the automotive industry
- Strong knowledge of automotive repair procedures, parts, and labor costs
- Proficient in using computerized estimating systems and software
- Excellent mathematical and analytical skills
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with customers, insurance adjusters, and repair technicians
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Have a valid driver's license
- Clean driving record
- Be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen
Desired Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in automotive technology or a related field
- Familiarity with insurance policies and procedures
- Certification by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)
