Bodily Injury Claims Adjuster

Job Summary
Investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and settle complex bodily injury claims by telephone and correspondence. Handle direct deal and litigated files, including mediations, pre-trials, and trials. Arrange and manage vendors for investigations such as IA's, surveillance, and defense medicals. Maintain accurate reserves, expense control, and file reporting. Work effectively with insureds, adjusters, legal counsel, and other stakeholders. Manage challenging coverage claims with tact and professionalism. Perform after-hours and on-call responsibilities in rotation. Handle overflow claim assignments and special projects as assigned. Requires minimum three years of bodily injury claims experience and post-secondary education in a related field.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of experience handling bodily injury claims
- Post-secondary education completed in a related field
- CIP or working towards designation is required
- Strong organizational; decision making and problem-solving skillset
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Expertise in file preparation, and demonstrate ability to negotiate a file to resolution
- Knowledge of claims settlement, policy wording, and fraud investigations with ability to identify and analyze coverage issues
- Strong general computer knowledge required
- 2–4 years of Bodily Injury adjusting experience
- Post-secondary education in Insurance, Business, or a related field
- CIP designation, or in progress
- Ability to work effectively with insureds, adjusters, clients, legal counsel and more
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
Desired Qualifications
- Knowledge of handling claims across Canada, is an asset
