Job Summary
Civil Engineer-In-Charge for Bridge Management in NYC DOT’s Bridge Maintenance, Inspection and Operations. Performs complex bridge load rating calculations, signs and seals Load Rating documents, conducts field inspections to support project scoping for design consultants, and reviews budgets for rehabilitation projects. Leads and supervises staff in technical and administrative matters, coordinating inspection findings, asset inventory data, deterioration modeling, and capital planning to identify structures for rehabilitation, replacement, posting, or future capital programs. Preferred skills include effective verbal and written communication and knowledge of AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, NYSDOT Bridge Manuals, and related software (AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, STAAD Pro, LARSA). Work location: 55 Water St, Manhattan, NY 10041; hours 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM. The posting notes a permanent civil service position with a required NYS PE license and eligibility rules.” ,
Required Qualifications
- Four (4) years of full-time, satisfactory civil engineering experience
- A valid New York State Professional Engineer’s License (PE)
- Current New York State PE license must be maintained for duration of employment
- Master's degree in civil engineering may be substituted for one year of experience
- Eligibility for Assignment Levels II and III requires at least one year within last three years as major contributor or project leader on a complex project
