Job Summary
Assistant Civil Engineer in the Bridge Management Section of the Bureau of Bridge Maintenance, Inspection and Operations. Performs complex analysis of bridge load rating calculations per load rating policies and directives; conducts structural analysis for City-Owned Bridges to ensure safety against heavy vehicles; performs field inspections for RFP information for design consultants; reviews budgetary plans for rehabilitation projects; flexible to work on tasks described above depending on workload. Hours 8:00AM - 4:00PM. Work Location: 55 WATER ST, MANHATTAN, NY 10041. Preferred: Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification, strong structural engineering knowledge, communication skills, and familiarity with AASHTO and NYSDOT manuals; software: AASHTOWare Bridge Rating, STAAD Pro, LARSA; NYC DOT information available online.
Required Qualifications
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in civil engineering and one year of full-time satisfactory experience in civil engineering work; or A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and a Master's degree from an accredited college in civil engineering.
