Job Summary
Board Director role based in South Australia, partnering with Sonder to provide strategic governance and oversight for a not-for-profit/health-focused organisation. The successful candidate will contribute senior-level governance, financial acumen, and ethical leadership to board discussions, with responsibility for strategic decision-making, risk management, budget oversight (exceeding $50 million), and maintaining alignment with Sonder’s mission and values. Must have completed or be willing to undertake the AICD Company Directors Course, be based in SA, and be available to attend regular board meetings; role requires travel across Adelaide metro locations. Term is 3 years with eligibility for 3+3 year extensions; remuneration reflects time expended and includes professional development allowances and governance training opportunities.
Required Qualifications
- Completed the AICD Company Directors Course or willing to undertake
- Based in South Australia and available to attend regular board meetings
- Experience as CEO or Board member in a complex not-for-profit or for-profit health, human services, or community services organization
- Proven strategic thinking and governance oversight
- Knowledge of corporate governance (training can be provided)
- Demonstrated ability to translate operational realities into strategic insights for the Board
- Commitment to ethical leadership and good governance
- Experience overseeing budgets exceeding $50 million
- Ability to manage stakeholder relationships and government funding/contracts
- Completion of required background checks (Working with Children Check and National Police Check) or willing to obtain
