Job Summary
Evaluate medical records documentation and code all diagnosis and procedures for claim data entry. Comply with legal requirements regarding coding procedures and practice while ensuring correct coding compliance for procedures performed across various specialties. Conduct audits and coding reviews to verify documentation accuracy, relay necessary information to clinic staff and providers, and help review insurance denials related to coding issues. Maintain expert knowledge of coding workflow and optimize available technology to meet department quality and production standards. Collaborate with the Clinic Manager, Providers, and Business Office Manager to ensure claims are satisfied timely.
Required Qualifications
- Familiarity with ICD-10 codes, CPT/HCPCS coding
- Working knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy
- Equivalent to an associate's degree in medical information technology (with course work in medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, disease processes, ICD 9 CM coding and prospective payment) required
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
