Job Summary
Conduct daily swim instruction and practice planning in accordance with YMCA guidelines. Build authentic relationships with swimmers and parents while encouraging volunteer involvement. Actively support DEIB commitments by modeling equity and implementing diversity initiatives. Convey program information, attend practices and meets, and maintain required records. Train and supervise Junior Swim Coaches as assigned. Organize equipment, report damage, and complete incident reports. Follow all safety policies, emergency procedures, and abuse risk management protocols. Maintain certifications in CPR, AED, First Aid, and Lifeguarding. Requires USA Swim Coach certifications, knowledge of competitive strokes, and proficiency in Team Unify and Meet Manager systems.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 21
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
- AED certification
- Basic First Aid certification
- Emergency Oxygen certification
- USA Swim Coach certifications
- Current Lifeguard Training Certification or Safety Training for Swim Coaches
- Knowledge of the competitive strokes and techniques
- Knowledge of competitive swimming
- Knowledge of general water safety
- Knowledge of Team Unify
- Knowledge of Meet Manager
- Knowledge of Team Manager
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke technique
- Ability to lift equipment
