Job Summary
Conduct daily swim team instruction, prepare practices and workouts, and motivate swimmers in accordance with YMCA guidelines. Build authentic relationships with swimmers and parents, encourage parent involvement, and identify potential volunteers. Convey information on team schedules and actively support DEIB commitments by modeling equity and diversity. Attend practices and meets as required, maintain attendance and meet records, and organize swim equipment while reporting damage. Train and supervise Junior Swim Coaches as assigned. Complete incident reports, attend staff meetings and trainings, and follow all safety policies and abuse risk management procedures. Requires CPR/AED/First Aid, USA Swim certification, and knowledge of competitive strokes.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
- AED certification
- Basic First Aid certification
- Emergency Oxygen certification
- USA Swim Coach certifications
- Current Lifeguard Training Certification or Safety Training for Swim Coaches
- Knowledge of competitive strokes and techniques
- Knowledge of competitive swimming
- Knowledge of general water safety
- Knowledge of Team Unify
- Knowledge of Meet Manager
- Knowledge of Team Manager
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
- Reliability

- Ability to vocalize with members if needed
- Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke technique
