Blood Component Manufacturing Technician

Job Summary
Scan and process received blood units into transfusable components, including red cells, platelets, and plasma, while performing leukoreduction and complex tasks like pooled product manufacturing, freezing, washing, or deglycerolizing. Maintain accurate documentation, manage inventory, and operate computer programs for labeling, storage, and sample tube management based on visual inspections and departmental data. Meet production goals and quality standards by communicating effectively with internal customers, vendors, and volunteers. Work a variable Tuesday-Saturday schedule starting at 6:00 or 7:00 am, with rotating weekends and holidays required.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of related experience in a regulatory, laboratory, or manufacturing environment
- Good computer skills
- Ability to use a wide variety of programs and laboratory equipment
- Attention to detail
- Accurate documentation
- Good decision-making skills
- Good communication skills
- Ability to work on a team
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Requires standing, stretching, stooping and bending for extended time periods
- Lift, pull, push and move objects of up to 50 pounds
- May work in walk-in refrigerator/freezers for periods of time
- May be required to wear protective clothing such as lab coats, gloves, face shields, etc
- Tuesday-Saturday
- Starting at 6:00am or 7:00am
- Rotating weekends and holidays required
