Job Summary
Blood Collection Staff – Customer Service role at the American Red Cross involving assisting with the blood collection process, transporting and setting up equipment at donation sites, creating a welcoming environment for volunteer donors, and following all safety procedures while collecting lifesaving blood donations. Paid phlebotomy training is provided with the opportunity to grow healthcare skills within the nation’s top humanitarian organization. Key responsibilities include connecting with donors, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere, maintaining attention to regulatory requirements, and supporting setup/teardown of equipment at mobile drives; may involve driving Red Cross vehicles. Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, customer service skills, a valid driver's license, DOT certification, physical ability to lift and endure long shifts, and basic computer skills with Microsoft Office. Preferred qualifications include prior healthcare or phlebotomy experience and leadership experience. Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Customer service experience and effective verbal communication skills
- A current, valid driver's license with a good driving record
- DOT certification or ability to obtain medical certification of at least one-year duration
- Ability to lift, push or pull heavy weights and work long hours with flexible scheduling
- Possess or obtain a medical certification of at least one-year duration (DOT)
