Job Summary

Medical Laboratory Technician/Scientist (MLT/MLS) performs and monitors laboratory analyses of patient specimens to provide accurate test results for clinical diagnoses and treatment therapies. Duties include specimen processing with proper identification and labeling, phlebotomy/venipuncture at specific hospital locations as needed, visual QC assessment, documentation of unacceptable specimens, communication of specimen requirements, data entry into the Laboratory Information System (LIS), operation and maintenance of analytical equipment, troubleshooting, and adherence to QC and regulatory standards. The role involves teamwork within the department and hospital, participation in proficiency testing, ongoing compliance with regulatory requirements, and potential technical education/training of others as requested by leadership. Evening shift located in Center City Philadelphia with responsibilities across Jefferson Health facilities.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate’s Degree required in related field of Science, preferably from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of Military Medical Laboratory specialist Training
  • Less than 1 year prior training in a laboratory setting (student training accepted)
  • Bachelor’s Degree required in related field of Science, preferably from an accredited school of Medical Laboratory Technology or completion of Military Medical Laboratory specialist Training
