Job Summary
Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations and life changes, then prepare complete, accurate tax returns for diverse individual and business clients. Provide clear, personalized recommendations and deliver empathetic, consultative service to uncover savings opportunities while building year-round client relationships. Offer IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed. Collaborate with team members to share knowledge and maintain a positive, client-focused office environment. This in-person role requires successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment and five years of experience in tax preparation or accounting.
Required Qualifications
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment
- 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping
- Experience preparing complex individual returns and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution
- Experience working in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to explain tax concepts in client-friendly language
- Must complete continuing education and meet all other IRS and applicable state requirements
- High school diploma / GED / equivalent
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA), or other IRS Circular 230 credentials
- Familiarity with GoSystem or Ultratax software
- Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT)
- Experience in a consultative or advisory client relationship role (financial advising, insurance, or professional services)
