Job Summary
Blaster Trainee (Construction) at Maine Drilling & Blasting focuses on supporting the Blaster in charge with coordinating daily drilling and blasting activities. The role is an on-the-job trainee/apprentice, designed to develop proficiency in blasting techniques, explosives product use, and related site activities. Responsibilities include maintaining the daily blasting production schedule, assisting with site security, participating in daily meetings, setting up seismographs, assisting with drill pattern layout and reviews, monitoring blast-pattern relationships to digging, and handling explosives paperwork and inventory. Requires a High School Degree and at least two years’ experience with drills/explosives (or military explosive handling), willingness to travel, ability to obtain blasting licenses, and passing ATF screenings. Physical demands include lifting 50-100 lbs and working on uneven surfaces; ability to work out of town as needed. Salary starts at $25 per hour with a travel stipend and DOE. Required Qualifications
- High School Degree
- MUST have at least two years' experience working with drills and explosives, or previous military experience in explosive handling
- Demonstrates basic blasting problem solving skills
- Able to travel out of town as needed
- Ability to obtain blasting licenses
- Must be able to pass ATF screenings
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform essential functions of the position
- Ability to lift 50 - 100 lbs., 30 - 40% of the time
- Work on uneven and loose surfaces in varying weather environments
- Stooping and bending 30 – 40% of the time
