Job Summary
Conduct abrasive blasting on metal and hard-composition surfaces to remove scale, paint, grease, rust, and contaminants while achieving specified finish requirements. Install, maintain, and remove blast protection materials and containment systems; operate equipment in open areas, confined spaces, and difficult locations. Manually direct nozzles, crawl, and climb to safeguard shipboard equipment during operations. Troubleshoot malfunctions, perform preventive maintenance, and inspect completed work for quality compliance. Safely lift up to 50 pounds and assist in training new employees. Comply with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. Requires 2+ years of Marine Industry experience and C-7/OSHA-10 certifications.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years experience in the Marine Industry
- 1+ years formal or Informal job training
- Ability to lift, carry, push, pull up to 50+ pounds (50 lbs occasionally, 25 lbs frequently, 10 lbs constantly)
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders
- Use of vision to see up close, distance and peripherally, as well as depth perception and ability to adjust focus in low light conditions
- May be required to wear a respirator
