Job Summary
Blaster with 2+ years of experience in surface blasting to create a proper profile on steel structures for coating adhesion. Will operate and be trained in blast equipment, perform blasting in tanks/voids, and work at heights such as staging and scaffolding. Role involves learning safe operation of company-provided blast equipment, working outdoors year-round in all weather, potential overtime, and meeting physical requirements (lifting, bending, kneeling, wearing a respirator). Includes background check and drug screen; location is Newport News Shipbuilding (NN SShipbuild). Nice-to-have certifications include AAMP/NACE.
Required Qualifications
- US Citizenship required
- 2+ years of blaster experience
- Ability to take measurements or willingness to learn
- Must be able to kneel, squat, crawl, bend, stoop, and climb daily
- Must be able to lift at least 40 pounds
- Must be able to perform overhead work
- Must be able to work overtime as needed
- Must be able to be clean shaven to wear a respirator
- Must be able to perform work outdoors year-round in all weather conditions
- Must be able to work at extreme heights
- Must be able to work in small, tight, confined spaces
- Must be willing to work any shift
- Nice to have: AAMP/NACE CERTIFICATIONS
