Job Summary
Facilitate weekly practices and games while maintaining a safe environment through respect, responsibility, honesty, and caring. Schedule practice times and locations, attend coaches meetings, and complete all required training including child abuse prevention and background checks. Share practice schedules, sports rules, and YMCA policies with parents and respond to staff inquiries regarding schedules and locations. Maintain YMCA equipment, report suspicious behavior or policy violations, and support staff during events. Complete mandatory reporter duties to ensure all youth are safe.
Required Qualifications
- Knowledge of sport rules and coaching principles
- Ability to facilitate safe and educational meetings and team practices
- Ability to create a safe and nurturing environment
- Successful completion of child abuse prevention training and background check
- Support YMCA staff and officials during practice and games
- Act as mandatory reporter and ensure all youth are safe
- Follow youth boundaries policies and abuse risk management training
- Report suspicious behavior, policy violations, and adhere to mandated abuse reporting and responsibilities
- Complete all required abuse prevention training prior to first shift
- Agree to respond to any issues they may witness
- Successfully complete a full-background check before placement is confirmed
Desired Qualifications
- CPR/AED and First Aid preferred
