Job Summary
Principal AI Engineer within BXCI AI team responsible for assessment and strategy across portfolio companies, building rapid prototypes, and delivering internal tools to accelerate technical diligence. The role leads technical diligence on implementation partners, monitors delivery, and collaborates with portfolio company teams and the AI Executive. Requires extensive production AI/ML experience, fluency with foundation models, agent frameworks, RAG architectures, vector databases, and strong Python/API skills, plus cloud deployment proficiency and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years building AI/ML systems in production environments
- Fluency in foundation models, agent frameworks, RAG architectures, vector databases, and evaluation frameworks
- Strong Python engineering skills; experience building APIs and AI-powered applications
- Experience shipping AI-enabled products or features to real users
- Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and production deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Proficiency in rapidly assessing unfamiliar technical systems and form defensible architectural views
- Strong written and verbal communication for senior audiences
