BIW & Closures Design Quality Lead Engineer

Job Summary
Lead BIW and Closures engineering activities from concept development through production launch, acting as the technical SME for body structures, closures architecture, and sealing interfaces. Define vehicle body architectural concepts, hard points, and requirements while driving cross-functional integration with Safety, NVH, and Manufacturing teams. Manage root cause investigations for structural and fit-and-finish issues, coordinate with suppliers for robust product development, and mentor engineers to establish design standards. Support prototype builds, launch activities, and benchmarking studies to optimize structural performance and manufacturability. Requires 15+ years of automotive experience and fluency in English.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field
- Minimum 15+ years of experience in automotive BIW, Closures, or Body Engineering development
- Strong knowledge of vehicle body architecture and complete vehicle integration
- Expertise in BIW Structures Development
- Expertise in Closures Systems Engineering
- Expertise in Body Packaging and Integration
- Expertise in Vehicle Structural Load Paths
- Expertise in Sheet Metal Design
- Expertise in Body Joints and Joining Technologies
- Expertise in Sealing Systems and Water Management
- Expertise in Dimensional Management and Tolerance Analysis
- Good understanding of Vehicle Attributes
- Experience with CAD tools such as CATIA V5/V6
- Experience with CAD tools such as 3DEXPERIENCE
- Experience with CAD tools such as Teamcenter
- Experience with CAD tools such as Siemens NX
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes including Stamping
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes including Welding
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes including Hemming
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes including Adhesive Bonding
- Knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes including Assembly Operations
- Experience working with global suppliers and cross-functional engineering teams
- Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis capabilities
- Effective leadership, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to manage multiple vehicle programs under aggressive timelines
- Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must be available for weekend shifts
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
