Job Summary
Independently conduct statistical analyses for observational cohort, registry, and quality studies, including data preparation, cohort definition, and application of appropriate analytic methods. Draft statistical analysis plans for defined studies, prepare and analyze real-world data from electronic health records, claims, and registries, and produce validated, reproducible analytic code in SAS and/or R. Contribute substantively to abstracts, manuscripts, posters, and grant applications, and communicate analytic findings clearly to investigators and clinical stakeholders. This fully remote, part-time role supports CVAUSA's real-world evidence portfolio within the nation's largest network of cardiovascular care professionals.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree (MS, MPH, or equivalent) in biostatistics, statistics, epidemiology, or a related quantitative discipline, plus approximately 2–5 years of applied experience; or a doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field
- Demonstrated ability to conduct multivariable and survival analyses independently and to interpret results accurately
- Strong proficiency in SAS and/or R, including data management of large, complex datasets
- Proficiency in SQL
- Proficiency and experience with missing-data approaches such as multiple imputation
- Experience drafting or substantially contributing to statistical analysis plans
- Experience with real-world data sources (EHR, administrative claims, clinical registries) and data-linkage or phenotyping methods
- Working knowledge of research data governance, HIPAA/PHI handling, and Good Clinical Practice principles
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to travel up to twice per year for team meetings
- Comfortable working independently within defined project scopes and self-motivated
- Detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
- Able to balance multiple priorities in a fully remote, part-time environment
- Works collaboratively and is responsive to feedback
- Motivated by improving quality and outcomes in cardiovascular care
- Demonstrates a high level of integrity and professionalism
Desired Qualifications
- Proficiency with causal-inference and confounding-adjustment methods (propensity scores, matching, weighting)
- Experience in cardiovascular clinical research, particularly cardiac imaging (e.g., PET/myocardial blood flow) and/or cardiac procedural care (e.g., coronary angiography, PCI, catheter ablation)
- Served as biostatistician for 2+ prior outcomes/quality research projects
- Record of contribution to peer-reviewed publications or abstracts
- Proficient in using Power BI for data visualization
- Familiarity with cardiovascular code sets (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT) and CMS data conventions
