Job Summary
Receive, inspect, and triage incoming biospecimen shipments while performing specimen accessioning and verifying demographic data. Conduct quality control checks on sample entry and labeling, then prepare, label, and verify specimens with complete chain of custody documentation. Coordinate domestic and international shipments, manage inbox requests, and maintain accurate records in Laboratory Information Management Systems. Communicate with internal teams and clients regarding held or rejected samples to resolve issues promptly. Support process improvement initiatives through workflow optimization projects. This long-term contract role in Tucson, AZ, offers $25–$30/hr with medical, dental, vision, paid sick leave, and 401K benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Science, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- 1–5 years of experience in biospecimen management, laboratory operations, sample accessioning, or a related laboratory environment
- Experience handling biological samples while maintaining strict chain of custody procedures
- Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with biospecimen management, sample accessioning, or laboratory operations
- Experience using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or other sample tracking software
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets)
- Experience working in a clinical, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, diagnostics, or research laboratory
- Knowledge of laboratory quality systems and specimen handling best practices
- Experience supporting global sample logistics and shipping
