Bioprocess Engineer / Indoor Farming Engineer

Job Summary
Design and implement fermentation infrastructure, including incubation environments, airflow systems, humidity control, and thermal management. Develop fermentation processes, inoculation strategies, substrate conditioning, and harvest protocols while monitoring critical parameters like moisture, temperature, and pH to ensure target yields. Co-design and operate indoor farming infrastructure, collaborating with mechanical and electrical partners on scalable farm modules from pilot to pre-industrial scale. Translate pilot learnings into engineering inputs for larger-scale facilities, conducting mass balances, capacity calculations, and facility layout planning. Ensure high uptime through basic maintenance, troubleshooting, and coordination with external technicians. Work physically in a pilot production plant environment as part of daily operations.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Bioprocess / Chemical / Biochemical / Agricultural / Electrical Engineering, Biotechnology, Food or Environmental Engineering, or similar
- At least 2 years proven hands-on experience in fermentation, controlled-environment agriculture, mushroom farming, vertical / indoor farming, or similar process industries
- Proven experience operating and troubleshooting pilot- or production-scale systems (bioreactors, climate rooms, indoor farms, or analogous equipment)
- Solid understanding of mass and energy balances, heat and mass transfer, and basic process control concepts
- Comfortable working physically in a pilot production plant environment (cleaning, handling trays, doing measurements)
- Working proficiency in English
- A track record of willingness to learn, adapt, get stuff done, and be proactive
- Independence and strong sense of ownership for tasks
