Job Summary
Inspect newly acquired medical devices for safety, assign control numbers, and conduct performance assurance and electrical safety testing. Perform preventive and scheduled maintenance on medical devices, responding to equipment problems in clinical or research areas to evaluate, troubleshoot, and solve issues. Execute repairs requiring generic test instrumentation or diagnostic software down to board or component levels, and participate in equipment evaluations, installations, and software revisions. Make periodic rounds of assigned clinical areas to assess device operation, instruct staff on testing and troubleshooting, and document all inspections, repairs, and teaching activities. Requires an Associate's Degree or 1-2 years of biomedical technician experience.

- Associate's Degree Biomedical Technician
- Experience as a biomedical technician
- 1-2 years experience as a biomedical technician
- Understanding of electrical and mechanical biomedical safety principles
- Ability to learn and perform maintenance and troubleshooting of medical devices involving appropriate test equipment and software diagnostic tools
- Ability to learn equipment maintenance, operating procedures, and repair procedures from training materials and courses
- Ability to use computer-based tools
