Job Summary
Evaluate, diagnose, and perform repairs on customer biomedical equipment while conducting planned maintenance and safety inspections. Assist experienced technicians on complex issues, communicate technical resolutions to customers, and maintain daily contact to ensure follow-up. Document all repair actions, manage spares and test equipment calibration, and adhere to hospital protocols and regulatory requirements. Work onsite at customer locations in the Newport News VA area, including after-hours and weekend coverage on a rotating on-call schedule.
Required Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education to an Associate's or Bachelor's level; OR participant in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship, Apprenticeship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and a minimum 2 years of experience servicing electrical, electronics, IT or mechanical equipment
- Analytical and communication skills with the ability to communicate technical issues to the customer in an easy-to-understand manner
- Willingness to be available after hours, or work a rotating On-Call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues and coverage, as necessary
- Valid driver's license and ability to maintain license
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S.
- Candidate must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted and frequently bend, stoop, twist, climb, crouch/squat, kneel/crawl, sit and stand for long periods of time
- Candidate must also be able to reach at, above and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck and have good hand and finger dexterity
