Biomedical Equipment Technician II

Job Summary
Repair, calibrate, and maintain biomedical equipment, devices, and instruments with basic to moderate complexity under moderate supervision. Install, qualify, and provide preventive maintenance for general and complex systems by interpreting engineering diagrams and schematic illustrations. Diagnose and correct malfunctions by repairing or replacing parts to ensure equipment meets specified requirements, including making calculations for circuit adjustments. Support the preventive maintenance program by entering data into the Computerized Maintenance Management System and provide technical instruction to personnel on equipment operation. Offer recommendations regarding equipment purchases and maintain accurate documentation in a clean, safe workspace. Drive to the Red Cross Chicago facility for equipment maintenance and interact with internal and external customers in a positive, customer-focused manner.
Required Qualifications
- High School or equivalent
- Minimum 3 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience
- Valid Driver's license with a good driving record
- Ability to read color codes on wiring and electrical components
- Ability to comprehend and follow both written and oral instructions
- Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-workers, biomedical and medical staff, and the general public
- Must be willing to be multi-task trained
- Basic knowledge of e-mail, database management, spreadsheet, and word processor applications
- Ability to take support call
- Ability to work on a team
- Must be available for nights, weekends, and holidays if necessary
- Must be able to travel to sites throughout the Red Cross organization
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move objects 10-50 lbs frequently and unassisted
- Must be able to frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
- Must have close vision
- Must have distance vision
- Must have color vision
- Must have peripheral vision
- Must have depth perception
- Must have the ability to adjust and focus
- Must be able to use a variety of hand and power tools
- Must be able to work with a variety of chemicals and solvents
- Must be able to work in a small cubicle

- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures for short duration
- Must be able to work under moderate supervision
