Job Summary

Biomedical Equipment Technician (BMET) responsible for repair, calibration, and preventive maintenance of medical equipment at RAF Lakenheath, Mildenhall, and Feltwell in the UK. Role requires on-site work performing maintenance, installation, and documentation of equipment in healthcare facilities; adherence to EOC standards; eligibility for Public Health clearance; and BLS certification prior to start. Candidates should have an associates degree or higher (or equivalent military/technical training), at least 3 years of hospital/healthcare equipment maintenance experience, English proficiency, and demonstrated ability to manage work orders and maintain equipment documentation. On-site duties may involve hazardous environments and lifting, with driving to service equipment at multiple sites as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Associates degree or higher, or equivalent (e.g., military training), as an electronics technician and/or Biomedical Equipment Technician
  • Minimum of three (3) years hospital/healthcare experience performing medical equipment maintenance
  • Language: English (read, understand, speak, write)
  • Evidence of training, certifications, experience, and other qualifications for each biomedical engineering technician performing services under this contract; include list of equipment experience for preventative and corrective maintenance
  • Public Health clearance and immunization records/health certification
  • Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) by American Heart Association or American Red Cross prior to start date
  • Knowledge of computers: MS Word, MS Access, MS Excel, Internet, Windows OS
  • On-site work with on-site equipment and safety considerations
  • Desirable certification by AAMI or Veterans Administration Biomedical Equipment Technician
  • Ability to repair, calibrate, and maintain medical equipment; perform preventive maintenance; generate work orders; document maintenance; assist with equipment installation and evaluation
  • Compliance with Environment of Care (EOC) standards
  • Hazardous environments awareness and safety procedures
  • On-site driving capability to service equipment at multiple locations
  • Experience with inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of electronic medical equipment
