Job Summary
Biomedical Engineering Technologist provides daily technical support for equipment and devices used in clinical/healthcare settings, maintaining complex medical devices to ensure patient safety and effective operation. Responsibilities include applying approved engineering concepts and repair methods to systems in patient care areas, working with minimal supervision or in a team, and ensuring safe operation. Must have a background in electronics technology or biomedical engineering technology, with registration/licensure requirements (CTTAM) and potential CBET credential, strong communication and organizational skills, and be willing to travel within the service area. The role is in Winnipeg, Manitoba, in-person with shifts including days, evenings, weekends, and standby. Applicants must meet background checks and licensing requirements as a condition of employment, and may require a Manitoba driver’s license.
Required Qualifications
- Graduation from Electronics Technology or Biomedical Engineering Technology program from an accredited education institution
- Registration with CTTAM (Certified Technicians and Technologists Association of Manitoba Inc.) required
- Must have, or obtain within six months of completion of experience, certification as an Engineering Technologist by CTTAM
- Certification as CBET(c) would be an asset
- Proficiency in PC use and office productivity software
- Good English communication skills (written and oral)
- Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Ability to lift equipment and travel as needed
- Ability to obtain required checks (Criminal Records Check including Vulnerable Sector Search, Child and Adult Abuse Registry) as conditions of employment
