Job Summary
Biomedical Equipment Technician II responsible for technical support of general medical equipment, physiological monitoring, and surgical equipment; conducts safety inspections and ensures regulatory compliance through analysis, maintenance, calibration, installation, and upgrades; maintains records in a maintenance database and coordinates with Clinical Engineer/lead BMET; on-site responsibilities include minimizing equipment downtime, documenting activities, and coordinating with vendors; position requires effective communication with patients, physicians, and staff, adherence to regulatory guidelines, and on-call travel within the Houston area.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Biomedical Technology (BMET), Electronics Engineering or related field OR successful completion of Military BMET training
- Three years of experience in maintaining electronics or electromechanical equipment, or two years maintaining medical equipment
- Sufficient proficiency in English
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, family members and co-workers
- Knowledge of regulatory agency standards and practices
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware and software
- Skilled in use of standard test equipment and tools for medical equipment maintenance
- Demonstrates ability to calibrate, troubleshoot, install assigned medical equipment
- Demonstrates knowledge of hospital policies and procedures governing Biomed equipment support
- High standards of service and customer-focused approach
- On-call requirement may be necessary
- Travel within Houston Metropolitan area may be required
