Job Summary

Conduct hands-on PMHS research, design experimental fixtures, and execute biomechanics studies for the Injury Biomechanics RDT&E program. Assist with data acquisition, analysis, and troubleshooting instrumentation while developing standard operating procedures and maintaining government-authorized records. Collaborate with Associate Investigators and study teams to prepare research proposals, modify test equipment, and ensure biosafety compliance. Actively participate in classical and injury biomechanics research, including volunteer studies and high-speed imaging, to support publication of findings. Requires Secret clearance, Bachelor's degree in engineering, and experience with MATLAB and kinematic analysis. Willingness to travel CONUS and OCONUS as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program
  • Demonstrated knowledge of engineering concepts, practices, standards, and procedures related to mechanical design, biomedical experimentation, data acquisition, and analysis
  • Experience in programming, experimental testing, instrumentation, kinematic analysis, video motion capture, and MATLAB
  • Demonstrated experience with at least two of the following research areas or tools: Injury biomechanics research, Human volunteer research protections, PMHS research, Numerical analysis, Blast, impact, ballistics testing, Mechanical testing devices, Anthropomorphic Test Devices (ATDs), High-speed imaging and analysis tools, Instrumentation (load cells, accelerometers, pressure gauges), High-rate data acquisition systems
  • Willingness and ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS as required
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data integrity and safety compliance

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting DoD or federal research laboratories
  • Prior experience with RDT&E programs
  • Experience supporting publication of scientific research findings
