Job Summary
Biology & Python Expert role focusing on designing computational biology problems that challenge frontier AI models. Create problems using biophysical models, ODE/PDE systems, or sequence algorithms, with a Python reference solution, input files, and model/network definitions. Determine numerical tolerance for scoring, run batch evaluations in parallel, and tune problem difficulty until target pass rates are achieved. Tasks are project-based and part-time, with remote work. Requires degree in Biology (or related field), 2+ years of experience, Python proficiency, and demonstrated ability to use scriptable computational biology tools (e.g., NEURON, Brian2, NEST, OpenSim, AMICI, MNE-Python, Biopython). Strong written English is required. Compensation is up to $35/hour equivalent, estimated at $72,800 per year for full-time annualized rate guidance, though projects are part-time.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Biology or related field
- 2+ years of research, applied, or teaching experience
- Python proficiency
- Fluency with scriptable computational biology package: NEURON, Brian2, NEST, OpenSim, AMICI, libroadrunner, MNE-Python, or Biopython
- Ability to design problems requiring a specialized solver
- Strong written English (C1+)
