Job Summary
Teach lower-division undergraduate lecture and laboratory classes in microbiology, anatomy and physiology, general biology, and nutrition across dual credit, online, hybrid, and weekend/evening formats. Deliver at least 15 SCHS of Biology courses per long semester while providing student assistance outside class hours. Develop and update curriculum aligned with State of Texas requirements, participate in college committees, and assist with registration, advisement, and recruiting. Contribute to campus assessment by measuring and reporting student learning outcomes to meet THECB Core Objectives and SACSCOC standards. Collaborate with the Biological & Physical Sciences Department faculty and maintain a collegial attitude throughout the hiring process.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher in the area of biology from an accredited college or university
- Master's degree or higher with 18 hours of graduate courses in biology from an accredited college or university
- Previous successful experience teaching in discipline at a high school, university and/or community college
- Experience tracking student learning outcomes, analyzing resultant data, and implementing improvement plans
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple assignments
- Demonstrated ability to engage students in the learning process and proven commitment to student success
- Collegial attitude with college community as well as outside entities
- Cooperative attitude and excellent team skills
- Excellent computer and multimedia skills
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
